Hi! We are Fay & Josh. We’re from a small town in South Yorkshire called Rotherham but often tell people we’re from Sheffield (everyone from Rotherham does). We have pretty normal jobs. Fay is a Secondary School teacher of the Arts & Technology & Josh is an engineer. We have a 6 year old chocolate Labrador called Dexter.
For as long as we have been together we have talked about travelling the world. We have explored different European countries and New York City together, on holidays and city breaks. Around 18 month ago, after a cruise around the Mediterranean we decided it was time to start saving for our year long adventure. In January 2020 we shipped Dexter off to Josh’s parents, we rented our house out, packed our backpacks, said goodbye to our family & friends and got on our plane to Bangkok.
Our trip took around a years worth of saving so in that time we had plenty of time to plan and did this with help from A LOT of blogs, which is why we decided we want to help others in the same situation we were in a year ago. We aren’t perfect and plans definitely don’t always go to plan so if your expecting to see amazingly edited photos, elephant pants & tie dye T-shirt’s your in the wrong place. We just want to share our experience, guide people where we can and also try to help people not make the mistakes we have along the way.
So what to expect from this blog? Honest real world scenarios with real world answers, we aren’t an instagram couple or expert digital nomads, our grammar may sometimes be bad and in true tight ass Yorkshire fashion we haven’t splashed out on expensive photography equipment in fact most pictures are took on an iPhone 7+ (because let’s be reyt with it I’m not buying a new phone when there nowt wrong with this one).
Thanks for visiting. I hope our tips and guides help you in some sort of way!
