1 | Somebody Feed Phil
Two reasons this is my favourite show relating to travel that I have watched in a long time. 1. It’s based around food, and lets be right with it who doesn’t love trying new foods! 2. Phil Rosenthal is an absolute legend.
The show is based around Phil Rosenthal, the creator of everybody love Raymond, and follows him as he travels to new places trying the local delicacies. It also gives you an insight into the city’s he’s travelled too and can give you some inspiration and what to visit while you’re there (and what to eat of course). He travels all over the globe visiting everywhere from Thailand to Israel to the USA.
You can find somebody feed Phil on Netflix and there’s currently two full seasons ready to stream.
We hope you enjoy, we can’t wait for a third season!

2 | Race across the world.
The concept is simple, 5 teams have to race from point to point without taking a flight, their budget is the price of the airline ticket and the aren’t aloud phones. The first season follows the teams as they make their way from Greenwich,UK, to Singapore, the furthest you can travel by land. Along the way there are 8 checkpoints which they need to stop by along the way.
The second seasons follows a new set of teams make their way from Mexico City to Ushuaia.
As a traveller you find yourself totally engrossed, sharing the tactics you’d use yourself and shouting at your tele when they don’t choose the path you would. You can find this show on the BBC iPlayer but if you’re out of the uk you will need you use a vpn to watch it.
We love this show that much we’ve actually applied to be on the third season!

3 | Street food
As a budget traveller we love eating cheap local street food, in this show they visit different cities famous for street food and visit the most famous food vendors in their respective areas. Where ever we are going we always watch the respective episode of the show and were possible try and eat at the vendor, although this wasn’t possible at the most famous of all Jai Fai as she was sooooo busy. You can find the first season on Netflix, this seasons is all about Asia and there is another one coming for Latin America soon!

4 | Jack Whitehall travels with my father
In this show comedian Jack Whitehall goes on ‘gap year’ like trips with his stuck up father. Although you would say it’s very staged for its comic value it is very entertaining and still gave us a few ideas and insights into a few places we were visiting in south east Asia, especially the bamboo train in Battambang as we had never heard of this before we watched the show.
There are 3 seasons, season 1 they do the ‘banana pancake trail’ thought Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, season 2 they travel Europe and season 3 is based on America. We enjoyed the show on its entertainment alone the travel aspect just added to the entertainment for us.
Stream all 3 seasons on Netflix now.

5 | Dark Tourist.
In this Netflix series you follow a Journalist from New Zealand around as he travels around the world exploring tourist destinations know for their strange and dark attractions.
I personally found the first episode a bit hard to watch, not because it was dark and gruesome it was more a fact it took me a while to get into the concept of the show and I wasn’t particularly bothered by the content in the first episode, that being said you should stick it out as it gets much much better!
There’s one season available on Netflix and he goes everywhere from Chernobyl, Kazakhstan, south east Asia and America. Put the fact that David Farrier reminds you of a ten Bob Louis Theroux to one side and you will really love this show. There’s 1 seasons containing 8, 40 minute episodes available on Netflix now.

Bonus Show
F*ck that’s delicious
As a little bonus I decided to throw this one in there. You may have noticed a reoccurring theme here, we love food! Now this isn’t strictly a travel programme but it’s entertaining.
In this show you follow rapper and former chef Action Bronson around on his world tour, action is a big food lover (as you can probably tell), and during the show he visits many different local restaurants trying out all manor of local cuisines.
At 20 minutes an episode its and easy watch that you don’t have to religiously throw yourself and can be watched in just about any order. There’s 3 seasons and you can find it on Viceland or on demand on sky/virgin if you’re in the UK.
Do you have any suggestions for other shows? We’d love to hear it in the comments below.
