So number 1 in the list is an absolute must. Packing cubes! These have been a life saver for us. They are simply mesh bags which hold all of your clothes and they make it so much easier for when your only stopping somewhere for the night and don’t want to unpack all your bag to get just one item out.
It’s a guarantee that you will be taking some form of electronic items on this trip whether it be your phone, camera, laptop or tablet. There’s a number of things you may need to go along with these items. A power bank being one, it makes life on the road simple with you being able to charge your items whilst on the move. Be wary with cheap power banks as we’ve had ours checked at a few airports, especially in Asia and have seen some cheap Chinese power banks confiscated. The one we have chosen and shown below has always been fine for us.

A travel adapter but more specifically a universal travel adapter. You don’t want to have to pack 3/4 different bulky travel plugs, they are great for utilising space and are made for most countries in the world and they tend to have usb attachments also. If your going to 1 specific place then you can always take along an adapter for that country, we had one bought for Christmas for Asia and it has come in useful to have 2.
Now you need somewhere to put all this stuff. There’s no right or wrong case or bag to put your electronic equipment in. You can find these on Amazon which will hold all your charging cables and wires. Be aware that these can be quite bulky so we opted for a polyester bag to hold everything in, being fabric it also is able to move all the items around while your trying to squeeze them into your backpack.

Now this next item is an absolute must… a travel pillow! Get one that you can attach the the outside of your day bag ready for your flight or bus journey or even get yourself a blow up one. We were really lucky and were bought both types for Christmas just before we left. We’ve found the bean bag type useful for our journeys and the blow up one is great to take to the beach, we all know how uncomfortable it gets laying on hard or bumpy sand.
A go pro or a similar brand. We actually didn’t buy one before we left, it was only when we realised how many pictures we wanted to take around or in water that we decided one day to buy one and we’ve not looked back since.
Now you will need a towel. Some hostels don’t come with them in the room so be aware of this. As you don’t want a huge bulky towel that holds the weight of water for hours you will need a micro fibre towel. We found dock and bay when researching into the best microfibre towels, they were a company that featured in dragons den creating micro fibre towels for the beach. They are probably one of the best things we bought, they are huge as we bought XL and fold into a tiny little bag which saves on so much space. Check them out here.
I think that may be all the extras you need to get you through your travels. If I think of anything else I will keep adding to the list so keep checking back while your still planning your trip!
